Fire Ceremony at Wabi'an Temple

At the beginning of the fire ritual an Aboriginal smoking ceremony was performed to welcome the people, the ancestors, the spirits of the land, the water, the rain, the fire, the animals and plants. The Noongar words of invocation were spoken with permission from a local tribal elder.

Pilgrims came and offered their prayer sticks

After the ceremony was completed, all the pilgrims, now enriched with healing energy of the fire, shared a festive communal supper in Cate and Russell's home, and Wabi'an returned to quiet in the gentle rain of mid-winter.
